from October of 1976 between the
Boston CELTICS
and
Portland TRAIL BLAZERS
, concerning
PLAYER Sidney Wicks
.  The “
official
” TITLE printed along the top of the form, reads as follows – “
Uniform Agreement for Assignment of a Player’s Contract to or by Club
”.
The document is genuinely
SIGNED
along the
bottom
by BOTH Arnold Auerbach
(as “General Manager”),
on behalf of the “Boston Celtics”
– AND –
by Harry Glickman
(as “General Manager”),
on behalf of the “Portland Trail Blazers”
, agreeing to the TERMS of the trade (please see SCANS of both sides of the document itself for the actual trade details).  To the LEFT of Glickman and Auerbach’s autographs are the signatures of TWO witnesses to the agreement.
In the bottom LEFT hand corner of the document is the
red ink stamp signature of NBA Commissioner Lawrence F. O’Brien dated “Nov 1 1976”
– acknowledging the LEAGUE’S approval and recording of the  trade terms.

SIDNEY WICKS
was selected in the FIRST round (SECOND player overall) of the 1971 NBA draft by the Portland Trailblazers.  He played for the TRAIL BLAZERS (1971 – 76), CELTICS (1976 – 78), and CLIPPERS (1978 – 81).  Wicks was the
1972 NBA “Rookie of the Year”
(ROY) and was named to the NBA “All-Rookie” FIRST Team.   He was a
FOUR time (4x) NBA All-Star
(1972 – 75).  Wicks was an OUTSTANDING college basketball player as well,
winning THREE straight NCAA Championships
(1969 – 1971) with the UCLA Bruins.  He was named the
Sporting News College “Player of the Year” in 1971
, was a
TWO time (2x) Helms Foundation “Player of the Year”
(1970, 1971), and was the
“Most Outstanding Player” of the 1970 NCAA Final Four
.   Wicks was inducted into both the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame and the College Basketball Hall of Fame (2010).
ARNOLD “RED” AUERBACH (1917 - 2006)
was a head coach in both the BAA and NBA with the Washington Capitols (1946 – 1949), Tri-Cities Blackhawks (1949 – 1950), and Boston Celtics (1950 – 1966).
HARRY GLICKMAN (1924 – 2020)
was the founder of the Portland Buckaroos of the Western Hockey League in 1960 and was also one of the founders of the Portland Trail Blazers in 1970.   Glickman was the Blazers FIRST General Manager from the team’s inception in 1970 to when he retired in 1987, and continued to serve on as the Blazers President emeritus thereafter to 1994.  In 2019, Glickman received the “John Bunn Award” from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport of basketball.
CONDITION:
document measures about 8 ½ x 9 5/8 inches in size and is in EXCELLENT original condition with bold signatures.   There are two “file” punch holes along the very top of the document but NO folds or tears (see SCANS).
