    Description

Banded Agate from Bahía state, North of Brazil.
    Excellent for Candy Dish Collection.
These agates were found in the gravel of a river few years ago by a group of native peoples. An old man was collecting from them and bringing to the lapidary rough market. Today the original deposit has been forgotten and nobody is working on it.
Nodules are riverwashed and found for 99% as broken pieces in a manner very similar to Lake Superior Agates. Complete nodules are quite rare and very seldom they reach 4-5 cm. Bigger size are often filled by quartz instead that by banding.
Colors are secondary pastel colors reaching the banding from outside and dominated by Iron red and pink.
Remember that Bahia State has nothing to do with Rio Grande do Sul where most of Brazilian agates are found and is about 3000 km away.
    Size: 39 x 25 x 24 mm.
