Cobalt Chloride-Hexahydrate Granular from pure cobalt broken cathodes - 125 grams.The hexahydrate which is on sale, has a molecular weight of 237.85. The anhydrous salt has a molecular weight of 129.85.
The item is 98+% minimum purity granular.
It is shipped in a high density polyethylene screw top bottle suitable for storage on a laboratory shelf.
Applications include ceramics and glazes, desiccant hygrometry indicator, invisible ink, plating, catalysts, fertilizer and feed additive, absorbent for ammonia, flux for magnesium refining, cobalt chemical preparation, etc.
Lack of cobalt in soil and foliage results in a 'wasting disease' in cattle. The cattle eat the plants and bacteria in their fourth stomach synthesize vitamin B12. In humans a lack of cobalt in the form of cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) or ability to absorb it causes pernicious anemia.
