1984 NBA All Star Game Ticket Signed by Then-NBA Commissioner Larry O’Brien.The Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy is the championship trophy awarded annually by the National Basketball Association to the winner of the NBA Finals and was named after the man who signed this ticket stub.
This game featured Magic, Larry Bird, Dr. J, Kareem,
Isiah Thomas etc.
This ticket was a low level center court ticket at the now demolished McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, CO.
Commissioner O’Brien was at the game seated behind the sellerS
The arena announcer introduced O’Brien to the crowd at the start of the game, and the seller got his autograph on this ticket up for bid.
O’Brien had been involved in politics prior to becoming NBA commissioner and was President John F. Kennedy’s National Campaign Manager and was in the motorcade the day Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. He also served as the United States Postmaster General.
1984 was the last year O’Brien served as commissioner and the NBA championship trophy was named in his honor that same year. He died six years later in 1990.
