vintage folk ugly 1990-present day
2 face jug done in dripping brown syrup of a glaze. Stands 14" x 14".
Woodsy monstrous -intimidating
spikey long horns that stretch out like demon like arms.
These are very detailed with hundreds of cuts forming a intricate hairy skin.
Deep set large sunken forbidding eyes
The mouth of the jug seems to have thick macabre lips that will swallow you whole if you dare touch it!!!
One face is as grotesque as the next. Not a happy and an unhappy. More like BEWARE, DONT TOUCH ME or I WILL EAT YOU AND HAUNT YOU FOREVER- young or old, same fate. It don't matter.
Believed to be S Carolina made. Originally speaking, these jugs were made with clay that was put aside by slaves, many times they didn’t own anything so they would be buried with there works of art or be placed near their gravesite. Out of respect because they were highly skilled craftsman.
