Description
Direct from manufacturers GSKM / 3TPL. This is a high-ratio 1:4.6 Step up or Step down transformer box for line level audio signals. The transformers used in this box were handwound by Saul Pickett, a handmade transformer maker who has been known to make the highest quality mastering grade transformers in the world. These are LR and utility grade transformers of his American Vintage design he describes as "Easier to assemble and more affordable, but still with some of the materials and techniques used in the mastering transformers... these are more euphonic, colored parts with more of a traditional transfomer sound."Case is made out of an incredibly beautiful and rare Louisiana Oak, one of the strongest hardwoods which is rarely exported. Non-magnetic for neutral sound.
auto changes from balanced to unbalanced connections. Improves transformerless line inputs and outputs; better than bare wire connections guaranteed. 1:4.6 ratio, high ratio. This is not a transformer box for beginners; you should know what to expect from a high ratio box. Many applications, excellent keyboard DI and keyboard to amp converter in the step down direction. This is a good box for archiving and for 2ch stereo sources. *note 4.6 ratio has its place in LR stereo applications but the most of the time there will be too much "ratio sound" for this. This unit is better used as an input or mix tool for keyboards, background vocals, guitar solos, and other mix elements which need to "cut" through a mix. This is why I say this box is for advanced users because it has a very bright forward sound, pretty much even in the step down direction, which has more of a band passed midrange rather than a modern bass heavy sound like you might expect from a lower stepdown ratio. Its a great sound, its just not a one-size fits all this box takes a bit of creativity and will probably move around a bit in your setup.
Either 1/4" input recieves TRS or TS line level connections. if your Input is on the "1" side, and your output is on the "4.6" side, you will have a Voltage Step Up Scenario. If you reverse the input and output connections so that your input is the 4.6 side and your output is the 1 side, you will have a step down scenario. This is about as far of a line up/down ratio as you will ever need, and is about as clean of a ratio'd part as you can ask for at this extreme. Brilliant lustrous sound.

The switch in the center switches between Through Ground, cable grounds connected through the transformer. This is necessary for some congfigurations.
"ISO" stands for Isolate. This is the normal transformer box configuration recommended for most applications.
"68 R" is a 68 ohm ground which has benefit in some limited advanced configurations.
This is essentially a ratio'd EBTech "Hum Eliminator" clone with much better quality transformers inside. If you are having trouble with your EBTech Hum Eliminator you need to short the ground between the cables and it will work better.
Better than bare wire connection guaranteed. These are excellent handmade components handwound by one of the most gifted transformer assemblers alive today. High quality lustrous sound. Great bright sound in forward direction, and nice "Filtered" sound in reverse reminiscent of "beatles EQ." These are high quality units useable on sources, outputs, or strange adapters.
