    Description

Direct from manufacturers GSKM / 3TPL.   This is a Step up or Step down transformer box for line level audio signals.  The transformers used in this box were handwound by Saul Pickett, a handmade transformer maker who has been known to make the highest quality mastering grade transformers in the world.  These are LR and utility grade transformers of his American Vintage design he describes as "Easier to assemble and more affordable, but still with some of the materials and techniques used in the mastering transformers... these are more euphonic, colored parts with more of a traditional transfomer sound."  Case is made out of an incredibly beautiful and rare Louisiana Oak, one of the strongest hardwoods which is rarely exported.  Non-magnetic for neutral sound.
auto changes from balanced to unbalanced as well, and improves transformerless line inputs and outputs, better than bare wire connections guaranteed.  1:3.23 ratio.  Versatile ratio useful in many applications including RCA to XLR/TRS line level, -10 dBV to +4dBu conversion.  Great unit for a Keyboard DI in either direction, or as a Keyboard to Guitar Amp converter.  Loud level problems with plugging a keyboard into a guitar amp are eliminated with this device and the volume knobs on both amp and keyboard will operate as expected.  The ideal application for this unit is on the LR output of a mixing board into converters or FOH sound system.  Another good application would be front end to a 2ch USB audio box.
Either 1/4" input recieves TRS or TS line level connections.  if your Input is on the "1" side, and your output is on the "3.23" side, you will have a Voltage Step Up Scenario.  this is a bit of a VA step up scenario where you can expect an increase in voltage, a thinning and brightening effect, but with some of the traditional 1:1 transformer benefits such as better biasing of connected devices, ground isolation, lower distortion, and greatly improved phase correllation.  If you reverse the input and output connections so that your input is the 3.23 side and your output is the 1 side, you will have a step down scenario.  This is a pretty aggressive step down, but the great benefit is a modern, full, bassy, clean, noiseless sound.  This is essentially a lossless pad but you get the VA changing effects down and it's a great stepdown ratio for simple balanced-to-balanced connections such as LR output on a transformerless console.
    Specifications:
    Step Down Orientation
    maximum input level : +25dBu
    maximum output level: +12.3dBu
Step Down Voltage Level Alteration :  -13dBu (Lossless attenuation)
    Step Up Orientation
    maximum input level: +24.6dBu
    maximum output level +32dBu
Voltage Increase of Step Up:  +8dBu  ("transformer gain" level)
The switch in the center switches between Through Ground, cable grounds connected through the transformer.  This is necessary for some congfigurations.
"ISO" stands for Isolate.  This is the normal transformer box configuration recommended for most applications
"68 R" is a 68 ohm ground which has benefit in some limited advanced configurations.
This is essentially a ratio'd EBTech "Hum Eliminator" clone with much better quality transformers inside.  If you are having trouble with your EBTech Hum Eliminator you need to short the ground between the cables and it will work better.
Better than bare wire connection guaranteed.  These are excellent handmade components handwound by one of the most gifted transformer winders alive today.  High quality clean sound with a little bit of grind.  Great "air" sound in the step up direction.  These units are LR grade studio components for channels, main outs, and live console use.
*This is another great box for recieving a stereo source into a transformerless console or DAW.  Instruction manual will be included with sale.
