This cap came off an early 1960's John Bean Fire Apparatus manufactured in Lansing, Michigan by the John Bean Division of the Food Machinery Corporation (FMC). If you do not own a fire apparatus to use this cap on it would make a great display item for a firefighter or fire buff's man cave. Truly a unique piece of fire fighting history.
John Bean Fire Apparatus were manufactured from about 1940 to 1990 and were noted for the there High Pressure Fog fire fighting
technology using a 3 cylinder agriculture crop spaying piston pump and spray nozzle to create a high pressure fog or mist to extingquish the fire using a minimal supply of water. They attacked the fire triangle from two sides, one by the fog of water cutting off the supply of oxygen and two the water mist cooling down the heat source. They very popular in rural community's where large supply of water and fire hydrants were not
    readily
    available.
