    Dear 301dirtshop,
    Hey there,
    Wanted to let you know the Case Guards fit the 79 XS, mounted them last night and they are great.
    For others ordering you might mention that if they have aftermarket header pipes ( as I do) the U bolt is a tight fit between the frame and header pipe. This is only an issue on the LEFT side. May not be an issue with stock header pipes.
    Additionally, the forward engine bolt that secures the top of the case guards will be just a tad short once the guards are installed. It can be reused but there is less purchase area on the bolt with the guards installed. The RIGHT case guard has a threaded mounting hold that accepts the engine mounting bolt so there is some added strength there. Still the stock bolt is a bit short and might require blue locktite to ensure it does not come loose.
    Alright, love that this was in the NOS box and everything. There was packing paper in the box from April 1, 1980...catching up on the news of the day then was fun too.
