Starboard side view on a sepia-toned, scallop-edged postcard of the Norwegian immigrant liner SKAUGUM (owned by I.M. Skaugum) of 1949 under tow. She was originally launched in 1940 (but never completed) as OSTMARK for the Hamburg Amerika Line. Seized by British forces in 1945 but still uncompleted. Sold off to I.M. Skaugen who rebuilt her into an immigrant liner, finally entering service in 1949.
The card actually shows the ship under charter to the Messageries Maritimes (see back).
This lovely postcard is in very good condition.
